This month there are two worthy winners of the Wodonga Council Young Achiever Support Scheme.
Novak Sojic and Hudson Magerstein are both 15 and extremely talented soccer players.
Novak started playing soccer at the age of six in the Wodonga Diamonds under nine team.
At the age of 10 he was chosen to represent Albury-Wodonga and has done so ever since.
His team has won three Victoria Country Championships and three Riverina championships.
Wodonga Council Mayor Cr Mark Byatt said in 2007 Novak was selected to represent Victoria in the under 13 boys side and had represented the state since then.
“Novak participated in the 2007 National Friendly Games in Sydney and at the 2008 National Championships in Coffs Harbour,' said Cr Byatt.
“To cap off a stellar sports career to date Novak is receiving the YASS Award for his participation in the 2009 National Championships which were held in Coffs Harbour last week.
Fellow soccer player Hudson Magerstein has an equally impressive sporting CV.
Hudson has been a member of the Riverina team for the past four years and competed in the NSW State Titles.
He has also been a member of the Albury-Wodonga Representative Team since 2005.
Being selected for a 12 day playing tour of Brazil as part of the NSW Development Team in 2008 was a highlight for this rising star.
“That year Hudson was also selected to represent the Victorian Country under 14 team at the national titles, which is another great achievement for this rising star.'
Hudson is receiving the YASS Award for his representation of the Victoria Country team in this year's under 15 National Titles.
The team finished a very impressive third in their group and sixth overall out of the 12 teams that took part.
