Does your neighbour deserve an accolade?

Do you have a good neighbour you think deserves a reward?
Then why not nominate them for the Wodonga Council Good Neighbour Award?
Neighbourhood Power co-ordinator Tracey Farrant said the Good Neighbour Program encouraged residents to reach out and help other people in their neighbourhood.
“Helping our neighbours and taking the time out to volunteer not only strengthens local bonds but it also enriches community life,' she said.
“This will help people to not only get to know each other but also to help each other out.'
She said good neighbours were often quiet achievers who did not want recognition or rewards for their actions.
“These people are valuable contributors to our neighbourhoods and it would be wonderful to recognise their actions,' she said.
“Being a good neighbour and also having a good neighbour living nearby is a great recipe for a happy community.'
Nominating someone for the Good Neighbour award is simple.
Complete the nomination form in CityLife, visit the council offices in Hovell St or contact the Neighbourhood Power co-ordinator on (02) 6022 9347 to get a copy.
Ms Farrant said residents could also phone her to give a verbal application over the phone.
“People can just ring and tell me why they think their neighbour deserves the award and I can fill in the details for them,' she said.
List the reasons why you are nominating the person for a Good Neighbour Award and return to Wodonga Council by October 30.
The nominees will be judged and the finalists will be contacted by phone on or before November 6.
The award finalists will be invited to attend a Good Neighbour celebration on November 12 and their names will be published in CityLife.
