Wodonga Mayor Rodney Wangman hands over a youth leadership shirt.

Program objectives:

The program will foster the development of potential and emerging leaders by:

  • Offering an intensive annual program that exposes participants to a diverse range of experiences and skill sets by exploring local issues and providing opportunities for projects to aid with these;
  • Providing participants from a wide range of backgrounds with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills in an environment that is stimulating, supportive and enjoyable; and
  • Enabling participants to interact with, and learn from, existing leaders.

Applications have closed for the 2008 leadership program.

All applicants have been notified of their succession.

Participants of the leadership program have been busy meeting on Tuesday nights at different local venues to listen to guest speakers and discuss important issues such as: community, cultural diversity, the environment and transport and sustainability.

During the next few weeks they will be developing action plans for the community projects that they will be undertaking.
