Local author Andrea Palmer shares the true story of Plum
Rutherford Haet, whose father was the Governor of Bihar in the last days of the
“Plum grew up in a household with 200 servants and 80 gardeners,
and went tiger hunting in Nepal with the Maharajah. She joined the Burmese Army
towards the end of WWII and served right behind enemy lines,” Andrea said. “I
met her in San Francisco in the 1980s where she taught a course called The
Sociology of Sex and participated in a three-way love affair which lasted for
20 years.” The resulting biography is Andrea’s first book, Plum: From
Bihar to Berkeley – The Extraordinary Life of Plum Rutherford Haet.
