Wodonga youth services department plays an important role in ensuring advocacy for, and responding to, young people's issues and needs through local government planning, policy and service delivery activities.
Wodonga youth services has identified six key focus areas (KFAs).
These include:
- Arts, culture and recreation: This recognises the need to provide a range of of arts, cultural and recreational activities, events and programs which are vibrant, stimulating, challenging, creative and inclusive for young people.
- Access and safety: This recognises the need to provide and enable the young people of Wodonga access a wide range of safe, engaging, interactive and affordable activities which meet their needs and enrich their quality of life.
- Citizenship and participation: This area recognises the need to provide and encourage opportunities for young people to connect with the community as valued citizens and leaders.
- Health and well-being: This recognises the need to promote and advocate for good physical, social and mental well-being of all young people in Wodonga.
- Education and employment: This recognises the need to support and advocate for learning and employment opportunities which are inclusive, creative and innovative.
- Consultation and communication: This key focus area recognises the need to consult with a wide range of local young people and advocate for their needs at local, state and national levels, as well as providing profile and prominence for young people and the Wodonga youth services to the broader community.
