FReeZA
FReeZA is a Victorian Government initiative that partners with local communities to fund all ages, smoke, alcohol and other drug-free events. Wodonga Council is funded to hold six of these events a year. Currently there are 77 FReeZA providers across Victoria.
The FReeZA Committee
The FReeZA committee consists of 10 to 15 young people aged 15 to 24. This committee is instrumental in the development, planning and running of a variety of music and cultural events.
Each FReeZA Crew member is given the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of event management from contacting band managers, all the way to running the gig on the night.
Committee members are also offered the chance to gain a Certificate II in Music Industry Skills. This part of the program means that each committee member leaves with a qualification as well as valuable hands-on experience.
FReeZA Events
Wodonga FReeZA hosts six events per year. In the past, these events have ranged from comedy nights to full scale band gigs.
Wodonga FReeZA is well known for its portfolio of awesome national bands, which have included:
- Battle of the Bands
- The Living End
- After The Fall
- Karnivool
- Behind Crimson Eyes
- The Butterfly Effect
Each FReeZA gig is a fully supervised, smoke, drug and alcohol-free event with strictly no passouts. Security and first aid are present at all events, making them safe and secure for each young person who attends.
