Wodonga Youth Services is seeking a collection of audio and video vox pops or articles of local issues or events.
These will be uploaded on to the youthcentral website and also utilised locally on the Wodonga Council website and other projects. All copyright, photo permission forms are provided by youth central and guidelines on and about creating articles and documents are available.
BACKGROUND OF YOUTHCENTRAL
youthcentral (http://www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au) is an innovative online youth engagement and employment initiative linking young people aged 12 to 25 with the Victorian Government and their communities. youthcentral is a joint initiative between Employment Programs and the Office for Youth, within the Department for Victorian Communities.
youthcentral has a strong commitment to young people’s participation through structured volunteering, training and mentoring programs.
These include:
- The youthcentral editorial team which is made up of 15 representatives from across Victoria – each is a contact point through which young people in rural and regional communities can promote local information, events and news.
- youthcentral roving reporters contribute stories and news relevant to their own communities.
- youthcentral e-zines are produced in conjunction with schools, TAFEs and community groups across the state to showcase young people’s art, writing and media to a web audience.
- youthcentral roadshows visit schools and youth organisations in regional areas to present dynamic demonstrations of the site to young Victorians to encourage and assist them to produce their own content

This is an amazing opportunity to be trained up in the world of writing for web and then to unleash your words and intellect onto an unsuspecting online world! Plus you'll get paid for doing it!

Become a roving reporter
Our roving reporters are young writers who contribute reviews, interviews and articles to youthcentral on a regular basis.
Not only is becoming a roving reporter a great way to develop your professional writing skills, it's also a brilliant way to build up a writing portfolio, to score the occasional free movie, CD or book, to meet your heroes and to get inspired by other peoples' stories.
So what do I have to do?
As a roving reporter you will be required to:
- Attend two days of training in Melbourne (we'll pay for travel and accommodation if you don't live in Melbourne)
- Research and write articles, reviews and interviews of interest to young Victorians
- Work on a freelance basis (ie, away from the youthcentral office)
- Contribute ideas & content from your local area
- Promote the site in your local community
- Provide ideas for quiz questions
- Provide feedback on site design
- Report on or help promote youthcentral at career expos, program launches and festivals
