Club development provides information links and resources specifically for committees of sport and recreation clubs or associations.

  • Grants open

  • Country Action Grants

The Country Action Grant Scheme (CAGS) is now open.  CAGS provides grants up to $5000 to assist sporting organisations in increasing the capacity of community sport and recreation.  The three areas of funding include:

  • Improving organisations;
  • Enchancing skills; and,
  • Including everyone.

This is an ongoing program.  Guidelines and application forms can be obtained by going to www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au


  • VicTalent

VicTalent provides a $500 travel assistance grant to community sport and recreation organisations in rural and regional Victoria to assist athletes, coaches, officials and teams with the travel costs of engaging in training and competition.

To find out your eligability for this grant go to www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au.  This is an ongoing funding program.

  • ActiveNews

ActiveNews is the council's sport and recreation newsletter. It includes information and issues relating to sport, recreation and physical activity across the city of Wodonga.It is distributed quarterly each year and is available from Documents and Publications - ActiveNews.

Wodonga Council provides the opportunity for community members to attend regular forums that aim to tackle specific issues sport and recreation organisations are facing in day-to-day operations.  Planning, financial management and risk management are examples of past topics.

CARN

The Centre Active Recreation Network (CARN) manages a range of programs targeting specific community sectors with the aim of enhancing their sport and recreation opportunities.  CARN works with community groups to help you find a funding or information source to suit your specific active recreation and leisure requirements.  They will also provide networks and opportunities to enable you to start, improve, or expand the recreation opportunties in the Wodonga community.

VicHealth

VicHealth has a focus on physical activity and aims to assist sporting clubs to make their environments more welcoming and healthy. To do this VicHealth runs funding programs so clubs can buy equipment and train staff, making it easier for people to participate in their sports.

VicHealth has initiatives to get children to be more active by walking to school and playing out of school hours. They promote the importance of good urban planning to encourage walking and cycling, reduce car dependency and improve safety.

Good Sports Program

The Good Sports Accreditation Program is operated by the Australian Drug Foundation.  The accreditation program aims to assist sporting clubs manage alcohol responsibly and therefore developing a healthier and safer environment for the local community. 

Upper Hume Community Health Service manages this program for Wodonga sporting organisations.  For more information or to register your club in this program contact Bob Currie on (02) 6022 8811.


Smartplay

Smartplay is a sport safety and injury prevention program. Smartplay aims to reduce the incidence and severity of sport and recreation injuries and carries the slogan 'Warm up, drink up, gear up' which represents simple, yet important, injury prevention practices for all sports participants, coaches and administrators.

Smartplay has a range of articles, resources, news and events to assist your club be safer.  Smartplay works in conjunction with VicHealth to provide funding towards sports safety. On the Smartplay website you can sign up to receive regular updates on whats happening around sports safety and injury prevention.
