Being prepared for storms

Being prepared for storms

StormSmart is proactive community engagement programme aimed at preparing 'at risk' communities for flood and storm events.

Wodonga is a storm-prone area.

Because of this, Wodonga Council has joined forces with the SES to raise the awareness of storms and to encourage people to prepare well for them.

Many homes and other properties in the Wodonga area may suffer from the effects of storms.

Significant storm events can have a range of impacts on your community, including trees over roads, damaged powerlines, roofs torn from houses or places of employment and workplaces temporarily closed.

Stormsmart also applies to businesses. Preparation to buildings and a continuity plan may help to minimise losses due to storm damage. Businesses may complete and return the StormSmart survey below by Tuesday, Feburary 10, 2009.
