The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service is a free universal service, available to all families with children from birth to school entry age. It provides services that offer families with young children support, information, health promotion, early identification of health concerns and appropriate intervention.
What does the Maternal and Child Health Service provide?
The Maternal and Child Health Service supports parents and caregivers to meet the demands of early parenthood. It aims to support each family's individual needs and circumstances.
Maternal and child health centres are located in six areas within the City of Wodonga and offer:
- information, support and advice regarding parenting, child health, development and learning, child behaviour, maternal health and wellbeing, child safety, immunisation, breastfeeding, nutrition and family planning
- a schedule of consultations at key ages and stages of child development when parents are encouraged to attend the service with their child
- additional activities and appointments according to individual family needs, for example in-home visiting
- links to specialist services when family's need some extra help, for example early parenting programs
- parent groups to provide health information and the opportunity to meet other parents in the local area
- more intensive level of support for vulnerable children and families.

Where can I breastfeed my baby?
"The Milk of Human Kindness project, a partnership between Upper Hume Community Health Service and the City of Wodonga, joined with Albury Community Health Service and the Albury Wodonga group of the Australian Breastfeeding Association, to work closely with businesses to establish Albury Wodonga as a supportive environment for breastfeeding women and their families.
