City of Wodonga

Children's fair

Since its inception in 1990, the award winning Wodonga Children's Fair has been a major success and is a feature of Wodonga's calendar of events.

It is held in October each year and is a free event for families - both local and from afar, attracting up to 16,000 people.

The aim of the event is to celebrate families and young people, and to acknowledge the huge effort that families put into raising children to be active and healthy and make positive contributions to our community's well-being.

Wodonga Children's Fair is open to all families, giving them the opportunity to spend time together at an event where they can be entertained, informed, engaged, educated and most importantly have fun.

Each year, the council’s early years and events team is committed to expanding the program so that it will be bigger and better than ever before but the objectives stay the same.

  • To build a sense of community among children and their extended families in our city.
  • To stage an event that encourages people to visit our city and patronise our businesses.
  • To build on our partnerships with key stakeholders in the early years and children‚Äôs space.

Children's Fair 2015

Date: Sunday, October 25, 2015
Time: 10am to 3pm
Venue: Wodonga Racecourse and Showground Precinct, Hamilton Smith Drive, Wodonga

This year's theme is Futurescape.

The free event will explore new technology, transport and entertainment which could be the way of the future.

It includes giant futuristic bubbles, an electronic workshop in which to invent new gadgets and toys, and a glimpse into the year 2020 when the only way to travel is through human-powered vehicles.

The children's fair this year will also include performances by Alex Papps, as seen on Playschool, fencing workshops with plastic swords, a strange garden made of cardboard patterns and shapes, zorb balls, cooking classes and a silent disco.

There will also be the usual favourites including the animal play area, music and dancing by local schools and community groups and emergency services displays.
