Council backs college’s stadium proposal
Wodonga Council will support an application by Wodonga Senior Secondary College for the Victorian Government’s Shared Facilities Fund.
The secondary college is looking to build an indoor, two court multiuse facility at their site in partnership with the Wodonga Basketball Association and council support.
The facility would address demand for indoor courts for local basketballers and provide compliant indoor netball courts in the city.
The $3.65 million project requires no major capital contribution from the council.
Cr Kat Bennett said this project represented a fantastic example of a shared use facility.
“I work with many schools in my role and we have some great schools in Wodonga,” Cr Bennett said.
“I want to congratulate the school on their initiative and their commitment in working in partnership with the Wodonga Basketball Association on this stadium proposal.
“The council is happy to support this project which will see the school use the facility during the day and the community out of hours.
“It’s a great example of maximising assets for all of our community to use.”
